This project had been dedicated to Queen Victoria in 1899. Sarah will explain the ongoing purpose of the VCH and what is beginning to be revealed in county-wide activities, as local historians – Westmorland – begin to take up the challenge to research their areas in more meticulous detail. Alongside her involvement with VCH, Sarah’s own research focuses on lordship and power structures in the north of England.
