Farfield is a restored Victorian woollen mill in a quiet corner of Cumbria and in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Filled with artist studios, exhibitions, heritage displays, working looms, art, and craft for sale by local artists, plus tea and cake at The Tea Room, there is something for everyone.
See our Resident Artists in their studios on levels 2, 3 and 4. See jewellery makers, painters, weavers, fibre artists, quilters and more, at work and creating a range of beautiful art and craft. Learn about the heritage of our Mill from its early beginnings in 1836 through to when textile production ceased, and the Mill was saved for art and heritage.
Visit our Retail Gallery on Level 3 where you can find handcrafted jewellery, leather items, metal work, wood turning, ceramics, glassware, and a range of textiles. Discover your own creativity with a range of workshops where you can learn new skills and explore your creative side with our Resident Artists and visiting tutors. (These must be booked in advance).
Nestled at the foot of the Howgills, Farfield Mill is surrounded by beautiful, tranquil countryside. Enjoy a stroll to Garsdale Bridge and see the river Rothay flowing beside the Mill or relax with a coffee and piece of cake in The Tea Room on Level 1.
