Stuart Gray
Stuart Gray is an accomplished illustrator and graphic designer whose creative career began in the early 1970s. After honing his skills in a number of leading design studios, Stuart joined the Wigan School for the Arts in 1994, where he inspired the next generation of artists for over two decades.
Following his retirement from teaching, Stuart and his partner, artist Ruth Clayton, founded the highly successful Wickerfish Art Studio at Cedar Farm Galleries in Mawdesley, Lancashire. Together, they built a vibrant creative hub, guiding adults in developing confidence and technique in drawing and painting.
In 2016, Stuart relocated to the beautiful landscape of Sedbergh, Cumbria, where he and Ruth established their current studio at Farfield Mill. Surrounded by stunning scenery, Stuart continues to develop his practice, working in a variety of media with a particular passion for acrylics. His work often celebrates the quiet drama of British landscapes and the elegance of still life, informed by decades of keen observation captured in his many sketchbooks.
With a career spanning more than 50 years, Stuart brings craftsmanship, experience and a deep love of visual storytelling to every piece he creates.
