The 17th century Swarthmoor Hall was the home of Judge Thomas Fell and his wife Margaret who later married George Fox and became a leader of the Quaker movement. The Hall was the cradle of Quakerism and where Fox wrote his famous diary in 1675. It has extensive 17th century carved panelling; each room having original 17th century furniture to represent that which the Fell family would have had.
Meet in the Hall carpark at 9:45am for a 10am tour. It is close to Ulverston and will take a 50 minutes to drive (38 miles) from Sedbergh down the M6 and the A590.
