Location: ⚠️ Message from Westmorland and Furness Council …… ⚠️ Due to the recent appearance of sinkholes in the carriageway, near Peggleside along Moser Hill, we have arranged for our operational teams to carry out intrusive investigations, and the associated repair works, to prevent further collapse. The works are programmed to commence on Monday 20th July 2026. Unfortunately, as the road is too narrow to maintain two-way traffic flow, it will be necessary to close the road for the duration of the works. We anticipate the road closure to be in operation for 5 days (Mon – Fri). We will aim to reopen the road overnight, if possible, although this will be heavily dependent upon the findings of the initial investigation. (The position of the closure means that it is not possible to use the back lane to Rash and the diversion will be over Barbondale. ) Whilst the road is closed, we will take the opportunity to excavate an additional trial hole further towards Dent, along the straight near Helmside, where recurring subsidence takes place. The trial hole will inform potential options for remediation in the future works programmeeggleside along Mount Hill
