Location: A 684 Garsdale
They have been in liaison with North Yorkshire Council and, to avoid any confliction with their planned closure of the B6255 (the road between Hawes and Ingleton) from 21 to 25 October, for which the A684 forms part of the official diversion route, these works have been programmed to commence following completion of that closure period.
To ensure compliance with the official diversion route for our works (via the B6259 Kirkby Stephen, A685 Tebay, A683 Sedbergh, and A684 Garsdale), a temporary prohibition of motor vehicles, except for access, will also be implemented on the Danny Wheel / Danny Bridge Road (U5489 and U5489) between its junctions with the A684. We have assessed the route and consider it unsuitable for through traffic due to its narrow width in places. As a result, only vehicles requiring access to residential properties and businesses on the Danny Wheel / Danny Bridge Road will be permitted to use the road during this period. Unfortunately, this means that we are unable to provide an exemption for school buses or public transport operators within the legal order. The relevant operators have been notified accordingly to enable the necessary alternative arrangements to be put in place.
Please note that emergency service vehicles will be exempt from this temporary prohibition and permitted to use the route at all times. However, we have highlighted that the road is extremely narrow in places and may present difficulties for larger vehicles, including fire engines and ambulance vans.
Advance warning signs will be installed two weeks before the works commence, and a localised letter drop will be carried out to properties adjacent to the works and along Danny Wheel / Danny Bridge Road.
This is the final scheme being delivered by the team as part of the A684 works programme, and we are grateful for the continued support and cooperation received throughout the project.
