Most of the dealers are members of the Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association, a trade association for antiquarian and secondhand book dealers and are indicated by the PBFA logo alongside their details.

Harvest Books

PBFA logoHarvest Books have a small, mainly specialist stock with an emphasis on illustrated books including Country Life, Folklore, English Literature of 19th and 20th centuries, Social History and Women.

Books are also available via Internet orders and at Book Fairs in the North West of England.

Henry Wilson Books

PBFA logoSpecialist dealers, since 1983, in antiquarian, second-hand and new books on transport and industrial history.

Henry Wilson stocks a large range of new and second-hand books, magazines, timetables, working notices, rule books, maps, guides and publicity material covering most aspects of railways at home and abroad.

The stock covers steam, diesel and electric locomotives, railcars and multiple units; carriages and wagons; signalling; track, buildings, bridges, tunnels and earthworks; operation and working on standard gauge, broad gauge and narrow gauge in the UK and overseas. Stock ranges from fine antiquarian items contemporary with the beginnings of railways to many more recent out of print titles.

Most current UK railway titles are carried with an emphasis on specialist publishers such as Oakwood Press, Irwell Press and Wild Swan.

Henry Wilson Books are based in Chester and deal primarily by mail order but have a selection of books for sale in the Dales & Lakes Book Centre.

Norman Kerr Antiquarian Booksellers

PBFA logoEstablished in Cartmel in 1933, Norman Kerr Booksellers traded for over 50 years in books on Transport, establishing a world wide postal and catalogue business and became the country's leading specialist in Railway Books.

In 1986 the business was restructured on a part time basis when Mr Kerr retired, and his wife and son now continue to run things, specialising in books for collectors in a wide range of subjects. They have been members of the PBFA since 1983, and continue to attend book fairs and occasionally issue catalogues.

The main stock of about 10,000 scarce and good quality books books is held at the bookshop and showroom in Cartmel. Prices generally range from £5 to £500, through secondhand to antiquarian and rare books in many subjects but particularly:
