Patching work is due commence on Wednesday 5 November in the vicinity of the People’s Hall – and then work slowly towards Crook Of Lune road. The closure will affect the Havera/Lockbank area for a time. Once work has passed the main residential area, the closure point will move upwards along Howgill Lane. It is anticipated that the closure will impact Havera/Lockbank areas for a day or two (weather dependent). The Team will allow access for school transport, so they will aim to start around 0900 and leave before 1500, with the road reopened to traffic at night.
Work is likely to take up to 3 weeks, though interruptions with other priorities/potential winter maintenance may delay progress on occasion.
Letters should have now been delivered directly to all affected residents.

A temporary road closure has been put in place to allow Westmorland and Furness Highways to carry out highway works which are expected to commence 5th November 2025 and anticipated to take 15 days to complete.

Location: C5100 Howgill Lane, Sedbergh from its junction with the A684, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 4km.
Alternative Route: A suitable alternative route will be signed and made available via the A684, B6257, A685, U3285 and the U5742. It has been identified that it will not be safe to maintain access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists throughout the restriction.
Passage for Emergency Vehicles will not be maintained for the duration of this restriction.
