Pathways presents a dynamic exhibition by Contemporary Quilt, a Special Interest Group of The Quilters’ Guild, whose members represent a diverse and forward-thinking community of quilters and textile artists. Working at the cutting edge of contemporary quilt practice, the group is known for producing innovative, experimental, and conceptually driven textile art.
Every two years, Contemporary Quilt sets a themed challenge open to all its members. These challenges are juried events that encourage creative risk-taking and fresh interpretations, resulting in exhibitions that reflect both individual artistic voices and the strength of the collective. The most recent challenge, Pathways, invited artists to explore the idea of pathways in its broadest sense.
The resulting works interpret the theme in a wide variety of ways, encompassing physical journeys, emotional routes, personal narratives, and abstract explorations of connection and movement. Through diverse materials, techniques, and visual languages, the exhibition highlights the versatility of contemporary quilting and demonstrates how traditional textile practices can be reimagined to express modern ideas and experiences.
