Location: Lowther Castle
We hope to see an archaeological dig planned by Lancaster University (some 300m to the
north of the Castle) where students from UCLAN hope to uncover a possible Norman
settlement and castle. We will meet in the Lowther entrance courtyard at 11:00 hours.
Afterwards, we could see the Castle exhibition about its fascinating history, as well as the
Mawson-designed Rock Garden, Japanese and Sweet-scented gardens which are being
reworked to a 20-year landscape masterplan. The cost of entry to Lowther is £14 per adult
and £10 per child up to 15 years. There is an amazing adventure playground (The Lost Castle)
for children, which could be the best in Britain.
