About Your Tutor – Jackie Carnell
Jackie Carnell is a skilled basket maker who works from her home in the village of Nenthead, nestled high in the Pennine Hills of Cumbria. She weaves in her studio overlooking the beautiful surrounding fells, drawing constant inspiration from the landscape.
Jackie grows much of her own willow, with a small willow bed at the bottom of her garden and a larger one in Brampton. This means the materials used in the workshop are locally sourced and sustainably grown — no air miles, just beautifully natural craftsmanship from field to finished basket.
