Each artist studied at Manchester School of Art in the Textile Department and since graduating they have all continued to make work relating to stitch, print and mixed media painting. Although as individuals their textile practice has taken them in different directions, their passion for historical textiles has remained a constant facet of their work; using techniques that are rooted in textile history has been a common thread that binds them together in their making processes.

Memories of the Yorkshire Dales – John Conway
John is a retired Engineer who spent many years on the drawing board before moving into Management. Ten years or so before retiring at 72 he took up painting, something he has always wanted to do since he was young lad living in Accrington. His chosen medium is watercolour, and his sketch books and photographs are the foundation for his finished paintings. John’s watercolour paintings and sketches are inspired by the beautiful landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales, where he has both caved and ridden his endurance horses.
