Location: Farfield Mill
Website: https://www.farfieldmill.org/events/a-sense-of-movement-in-woven-tapestry-anna-wetherell/
Admission: £65 plus £5 materials
We will take a short stroll down to the bridge below the Mill (weather permitting), looking at the shapes and patterns around us, such as the river, the movement of trees and plants, and birds flying. We will then return to the workroom and explore how to capture what we have seen through weave, using simple techniques and a range of yarns.
If you have woven before, we can look at specific techniques such as eccentric weave, blending, hatching and transparency. There will also be a chance to look at the Murmuration tapestry exhibition, which Anna Wetherall has woven part of, and take inspiration from it.
Suitable for beginners and improvers. Bring your own equipment if you have it, but there will also be looms warped up ready to go and a range of weft yarn for you to use. Additional equipment will be available for sale, should you wish to continue weaving after the workshop day (up to around £70).
Suitable 16 plus
