The Dalesman, established in 1987, is a family run freehouse. In recent years it has concentrated on using and working with local suppliers as much as they can. The organic Galloway beef from nearby Birks Farm has a round trip of less than 30 miles from field to restaurant, where possible they try to use Rough Fell lamb and Berkshire pig also from Birks and goats cheese & eggs from nearby farms. All cask ales are from local brewers less than 20 miles away. The chefs change the menu monthly sometimes weekly but keep customers favourites on all year.
