This is a fun writing competition on the theme of ‘An Extraordinary Journey’ with book tokens for the winners.
There are two sections:
- Children aged 10 to 14 with a a story in 500 words or less.
- Adults 15 years and over with a story in 1500 words or less
The piece can either factual or imaginary and should be submitted by December 16 2024.
The entry fee for adults is £7 and there is no charge for children’s section. All entrants, including children, must register via the Trybooking website at www.trybooking.com/uk/67576
Terms & conditions
1. Eligibility
Entry is open to any writer. Entries must be the original and unpublished work of the entrant, which is not currently submitted for publication nor for any other competition or award. You may submit only one entry.
2. Manuscripts
Please layout your entry in double spacing with a front page stating your name, address, phone number and email address. Please also state story title and word count. AI generated entries will not be accepted.

3. Competition Judging
The judges decision will be final, with no correspondence being entered into.
Entrants waive their moral rights in the short story, allowing Sedbergh Booktown to use, copy, modify, adapt and publicly display their entry.
4. Notification
Winners will be notified by February 15, 2025.
