Sedbergh Local Produce and Farmers’ Markets
A new producer’s market will be starting in Sedbergh, in Joss Lane car park, in 2007. Markets will be held on the last Wednesday of each month from April up to and including October. There will also be 2 special Saturday markets in May (Sedbergh Gala) and August (Sedbergh Charter Market).
Why local?
There are many benefits to buying your food and craft products locally - economic, social and environmental.- Fewer food miles - less pollution and fresher produce.
- Support for the local economy - local spending and local buying gives the community stability, safeguarding and creating jobs.
- Traceability - following recent food scares, the provenance of food is becoming more and more important; local produce means local accountability.
- Seasonality - buying local produce in season ensures freshness.
What's on sale?
At the Wednesday market there will be extra stalls selling a wide range of local produce, including:- Homemade jams, marmalades, jellies, preserves, chutneys, pickles & sauces.
- Bread, puddings & cakes.
- Organic meat.
- Sausages, salami, black puddings, cured meats & cooked meats.
- Stuffed poultry & game.
- Seasonal vegetables.
- Plants, shrubs & bulbs.
- Dairy products, including handmade Swaledale cheeses.
- Fish.
- Dichroic glass jewellery.
- Alpaca fibre & Belted Galloway rugs.

Sedbergh Community Office, which is situated behind the recycling area in Joss Lane car park, is the booking and information office for the markets.Phone: 015396 20504

Sedbergh Weekly Market & Book Car Boot Sale.
Every Wednesday (except those with a farmers’ market) there is an ordinary market with a selection of produce, hardware and other stalls. On these Wednesdays the public are invited to book a car boot space and to bring along their books and other second-hand items for sale. Car boot spaces are limited and it is necessary to book. Each single car space will cost £5.
