Fruit & veg. at Sedbergh marketMeat stall at Sedbergh market

Markets are held every Wednesday of the year (except sometimes between Christmas and New Year and during extreme weather) on Joss Lane car park, off the Main Street of Sedbergh. The market plays an important role in the life of the town and has been established for many years.

The market has stall holders who sell a range of staple produce. Most weeks you will find artisan baked bread, eggs, wet fish, fruit/vegetables (seasonal plants), local meat and sometimes other stalls as well.

The Market trades from around 8.30am (and earlier) and closes around 12.30pm to 1.30pm dependent upon the season/weather and stock availability. Some parking is available on the car park while the market is in operation, although you may be better advised to park at Loftus Hill car park and walk along Main Street to reach the market.

Information for new and occasional traders (including car boot) can be sought from the Clerk of Sedbergh Parish Council. Please do not just turn up to trade on the market without prior arrangement/agreement. This allows sufficient space to be cordoned off the evening before. Sedbergh Parish Council operates full/part-time and seasonal licences. Stall holders attend at their own risk and liability. A full copy of the Risk Assessment for the Wednesday market is available from the Clerk to Sedbergh Parish Council.
