Description
Sleeps up to 4
Handpicked pieces of furniture, some restored to create a mix of old and modern, result in a most charming cottage. The oak staircase is hand-made by a local craftsman and the cottage is fitted with iron work made by Steve and designed especially for the cottage. On the spacious landing there are two comfortable chairs providing a view over the garden with its bird and squirrel feeders.
The cottage is located in a rural location at the foot of Harter Fell, near the unspoiled village of Ravenstonedale. Just a short walk from the cottage is the limestone pavement of Fell End Clouds and the ancient Murthwaite woods, where you may see red squirrels, deer or buzzards overhead. The fells surrounding Sandbed Cottage are grazed by Swaledale sheep (with Rough Fell sheep on the Howgills) and wild fell ponies with open access across the fells for walkers.
There is an orchard garden with a BBQ, bench and a stunning view of the fells. Outside the French doors we have bird feeders which attract a large variety of birds, and if you are lucky you may even see red squirrels feeding only metres away from the door.
