Create your own Embroidered Garden Bird Portrait with Helen Walsh.

 

Come and join artist Helen Walsh for a relaxing and creative day of birds and stitching. Learn how Helen builds her bird portraits using fabric pastels and stitch and then create your own bird portrait. Your kit will provide everything you need to make your own unique piece of textile art. Hand embroidery is a mindful process so you may not finish your portrait on the day but you’ll have all the skills, tools and materials to complete your work at your own leisure.

No experience necessary, Helen will help guide you through the creative process, adapting to your own level of experience.

to be provided by the tutor as a kit to buy £10

The kit will include:

Bird template
Plain fabric
Fabric pastels
Embroidery hoop
Needles
Embroidery threads in the colours of your bird
Please bring scissors and a thimble if you require one.

(Helen will bring spare threads/fabrics/scissors etc and an iron)

BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT TUTOR

Helen organises and runs a wide range of arts and crafts projects with a variety of people across a range of settings and is passionate about enabling people to unlock and explore their creativity. Helen is a very experienced workshop leader and enjoys working with people to help them develop their skills and to share her love of textiles.

Helen has a BTEC Diploma Foundation Art and Design from Stafford College, a BA(Hons) Embroidery from Manchester Metropolitan University and is a trained Arts Award Advisor (Bronze, Silver and Gold)

Helen also exhibits and creates her own textile art which often reflects her love of birds.
