West Coast Mainline
The West Coast Mainline runs from London to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Most trains stop at Oxenholme station, 10 miles from Sedbergh.
Local bus services between Kendal and Sedbergh stop at Oxenholme Station.
There are taxis in the station forecourt.

The Settle – Carlisle Railway

The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway winds its scenic way through the Yorkshire Dales and Eden Valley, linking with the East Coast Mainline via Leeds and the West Coast Mainline at Carlisle.
Trains stop at Garsdale (9 miles), Dent (10 miles), and Kirkby Stephen (12 miles) stations.
Garsdale, Dent and Kirkby Stephen stations are all un-staffed and do not have taxi ranks.
There are Western Dales Bus bus services between Dent station and Sedbergh on Saturdays and Summer Sundays. They run a bus service between Dent and Sedbergh and Garsdale station on Tuesdays and one between Dent and Sedbergh and Kirkby Stephen station on Fridays.
Note that Dent station, which is the is the highest railway station in England, is 4½ miles from the village of Dent.

The following operators provide taxi services in the area but please note that, unlike the larger towns and cities, availability of taxis in rural areas is very limited with few locally-based vehicles. You may experience difficulty in obtaining a taxi at short notice so booking well in advance is always advisable.
