Julian Cann returns to this year’s Festival in a solo violin performance of Bach’s Partita no. 1 in B minor & Partita no. 2 in D minor.

Julian Cann studied at London University where his violin tutor was Linda McLaren. He has subsequently been taught or coached by Reginald Stead, Martin Milner, Raphael Wallfisch and the Alberni String Quartet. Julian leads both the Stonebridge and Castalia quartets as well as playing with the Pennine Piano Trio, Lonsdale Baroque Ensemble and pianist David Chapman. He has played with National Concert Orchestra, Manchester Concert Orchestra and Northern Chamber Orchestra and has performed concertos with orchestras in the North West and Scotland. Julian also leads Lancaster’s Haffner Orchestra, with whom he has also appeared as soloist, and recently played in the Goetheanum, Basel. He is shortly to embark on a chamber music tour to Switzerland and Germany.
