4th October to 16th November - Farfield Mill Exhibition -The Paper Gardener

Nicholette Goff employs a range of printmaking processes in response to the natural environment. Her delicate and exquisite pieces are created by printing directly from nature. No colour is added, but natural and subtle images are marked onto heavy guage watercolour paper, which is then torn, burnt or stitched to create unique and original artworks. Tree wraps have become one of Nicholette’s motifs, and these ethereal paper forests re-created in gallery spaces are breathtaking and moving.

Nicholette will be in residence at Farfield for a week during which time she will be working with local schools and community groups in the autumn landscape. The workshops will provide an insight into her techniques, starting with direct land prints and progressing through studio-based book pages to large outdoor pieces. These unusual processes produce some of the most delicate and beautiful prints you will ever make. For more information about the workshops and costs please contact Farfield Mill using the contact details below.

Tuesday 14th October 2008 - Mikron Theatre Company, "Fair Trade"

Mikron Theatre Company is the little touring theatre company with the reputation for tackling large scale subjects and turning history into vivid and dramatic entertainment. They tour to every conceivable type of venue, reaching audiences that other companies cannot.

Reap the dividends of Mikron Theatre Company's insight into the Co-operative Movement from its roots in the early part of the 19th century when the Industrial Revolution resulted in exploitation and misery for many working people.

Did it all begin at Toad lane in Rochdale in 1844? Mikron Theatre Company will wander down the aisles of history to bring you the true story, told, of course, with a mixture of music, humour and sadness.

Banner graphics

The world’s most widely acknowledged icon of Northumbrian music joins forces with one of the UK’s hottest new talents to produce music of an electrifying energy, vitality and virtuosity. Their technical prowess is only part of the appeal: much more special is the depth of their interpretations, from little-known classics of a rural tradition to their latest compositions, they perform with an absolute commitment which is immediately apparent. Kathryn needs no introduction as the foremost exponent of the Northumbrian pipes, playing with Sting, The Chieftains, Evelyn Glennie, Andy Sheppard and many others as well as releasing 14 of her own albums.
