Roy Bainton

A literary ‘Jack of All Trades’, author Roy Bainton has published 12 books in just over a decade, holds a Fellowship with the Royal Literary Fund at the University of Lincoln, and has written extensively for most media, including TV, radio, and the press. He is well known in the music industry as a writer where he’s worked for BB King, Willie Nelson, Mark Knopfler, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Tony Christie and other artists researching and writing liner notes.

“The Spirit In The Wheel” was commissioned by two retired Nottinghamshire men, John Ellis and Jim Smith, who have developed an innovative theory which explains the possible methods used by the Ancient Egyptians when building the Great Pyramid. Bainton’s entertaining presentation will cover the pyramid’s bizarre, mysterious history, with secret chambers, missing mummies, murdered pharaohs, and a century of wild speculation featuring everything from alien intervention, spiritualism and even the suggestion that the pyramid was once a nuclear power plant!

For the second part of the evening, under the heading ‘Young, Blonde, Buxom & Beautiful’, the author will reveal the often hilarious adventures and daily struggles faced by an elderly jobbing writer – as he says, “We’re not all JK Rowling ...” and will exclusively reveal to us his new novel on Ancient Egypt, “Cartouche”.
